Thin-skinned Obamas
Barack Obama told the Tennessee GOP yesterday to "Lay off my wife" over the following ad:
Is Obama saying his wife is above scrunity and not to be held accountable for reckless and insulting comments such as those she was video-taped saying on Hardball or at a huge Obama rally?
Those Obamas are very sensitive and extremely touchy, especially for two savvy professionals who want the nation to believe they are politically experienced and tough enough to lead a nation through perilous times, aren't they? Oh, that Barack and Michelle were as sensitive about and so loyal to the very nation they say they are ready to govern.

Fran,
I would love to see a campaign where snippets of comments aren't used to paint people in a bad light. I sympathize with Obama because his wife isn't running for President. He is. Consider how the Dems could return the favor with Cindy McCain as in the following tv ad:
Voiceover in a stark and dark tone while the screen shows graphic video of victims at a car accident with opened bottles of beer easily seen in the smashed car: "Cindy McCain has blood on her hands. Thousands of people are dead or maimed for life thanks to how she makes her money. No wonder she doesn't want to release her tax returns. And John McCain goes along with this. For shame!"
See what I mean?

I see what you mean, David, but I haven't seen Cindy McCain making such brash statements and being a co-spokesman for her husband's campaign as Michelle has been.
Michelle must be held accountable for what comes out of her mouth, as Cindy McCain should be if she decides to publicly lead opinion as Michelle Obama has chosen to undertake.
Fact is that Michelle holds the same radical leftist views her husband holds. Its fair game.
Cindy McCain's family money source could become an issue if she makes rash statements about it as Michelle has made about recently-found pride in being an American.
Maybe she'll be more cautious in the future about her shame with America. That will be good.

I don't see what you mean, David, Mrs. McCain makes no statements regarding the pride she feels for the first time America by distributing Budweiser.

In one speech, Obama claimed Iran was a grave threat. In another speech, he claimed Iran was a little country that poses no threat. Which is it Senator?
Clearly Mrs obama, who campaigns publicly for Senator Obama, is fair game for valid criticism of her statements. unfortunately, the Obama's have little regard for this nation, its people, or its founding principles. They seem to be saying that they are above criticism, yet they constantly make verbal blunders or contradict themselves. Since the media fails to hold them to account, we conservatives must speak out to expose the glaring shortcomings of Mr Obama's campaign.

She is fair game. Whether it is an intelligent strategy ploy is another question, and I believe the strategy helps him come to the defense of his wife in a public setting. But objectively, any time a candidate's wife stumps or says something, it is fair game. In the end, the GOP's efforts to go after her will be a blunder - not a major one, but enough to give Sen. Obama some earned media on which he likely will capitalize.

On April 8th, I led a group of 8 decorated Illinois Iraq War veterans to Capitol Hill to meet with Illinois senators, congressmen and their staffs. Our group included two young veteran amputees, who had lost their limbs in service to this country. Our scheduler had previously requested personal meetings for our Illinois veterans delegation with Senators Obama and Durbin. Both senators declined to meet with us personally, instead relegating our meetings to their staffers.
Senator Obama has stated that he is willing to meet with designated terrorist supporter Iran president Ahmedinejad without preconditions, but he is unwilling to meet with the heroic young men who have gone in harms way and made tremendous sacrifices defending this nation. In addition, Senator Obama's staffers emphatically told us that Senator Obama would never support a timetable for withdrawal from Iraq. They told us that canard on the very same day that Senator Obama publicly called for an Iraq withdrawal timetable. This is just one more example of the Obama campaign telling people what they think the people want to hear. Yet another example of duplicity and insincerity. Our young Illinois veteran heroes deserve better.

Fran,
I see your point. It's been crazy lately and so I apologize for being a few days late in acknowledging the common sense in your reply to my comment. If Michelle Obama is going to play a major role in her husband's campaign, then she has to take the lumps when she says dumb things.
