UPDATED 1x: Chris Simcox: Tales from the border
UPDATE: DePaul's Conservative Alliance President Nick Hahn is scheduled to appear on The O'Reilly Factor tonight at 7:00 PM CST.
by Rosanna Pulido
Minuteman Founder Chris Simcox gave an excellent presentation to the De Paul forum on Monday night. He promised he would talk about illegal immigration and tales from the border and that's exactly what he did. Chris Simcox brought solutions to the table in his ongoing efforts to secure the borders of America. Chris spoke about the humanitarian efforts of the Minutemen and tried to bring some reality to the propaganda that the open-borders lobby chooses to pedal.
The fear-mongering at this event was brought to you courtesy of Charles R. Strain a religious professor from De Paul. The students were given a lesson in leftist tactics, don't talk facts about a subject, just attack your opponent's character. Yes, Chris Simcox talked about illegal immigration and Professor Strain talked about Chris Simcox's character with a mention here and there about the virtues of Marxist Liberation theology as it relates to illegal aliens.
When questioned about his sources for the attacks on Chris Simcox, the De Paul professor stated the Southern Poverty Law Center, Now you know why your college student might not seem like they are learning anything! Here is a professor getting his facts from a group that reaps millions with fear-mongering tactics. Now you know what kind of teaching your students are sitting under day in and day out.
The most troubling aspects of the evening are the actions by the De Paul administration itself. It brings to mind why some college students around the country have created a new documentary Indoctrinate U "Our education, their Politics" The De Paul administration actions were shameful, biased and it will be interesting to see their future demands on campus groups with liberal views, but don't hold your breath. A staff member got up at the end of the forum walked up to the microphone and announced that in June they will be holding a forum called "Illegal immigration and Xenophobia" When questioned if the school will be charging $2,500 for extra security at the Xenophobia event the staff member was non-committal.
Congrats go out to the Depaul Conservative Alliance for their perseverance and dedication to free speech and defenders of conservative issues. If you would like to help them with the costs they incurred for extra security ($2,500) check out their website and there is a place you can donate.
Thanks to the De Paul Conservative Alliance President Nick Hahn, who showed true leadership!

It's been said many times before, I know, but this bears repeating:
Only when these one-dimensional "academicians" and their equally incoherent allies in the mainstream media start losing their jobs to illegals and immigrants willing to work for much less will we perhaps begin to hear a different song from both.

I hope all of the open border, mass immigration people (including those on this board) see who they are in bed with. IF I was on that side, I would take a second look after what I saw last night and on other occasions as well.

If they haven't paid the school yet, I would stiff them. Screw'em. How come the other people (leftist) and the other people who spoke didn't have to pay for security. Also, when the next event is, we should show up and counterprotest, so they have to pay additional costs.
Did the school force the Alliance to let the professor speak or was he already invited. I think that's bull, pay for security for your private event plus you have allow one of our people speak. If anything, we'll pay for security and we let speak, who we want to speak. No one else invited.

The students invited the Strain to get both sides of the issue, but Strain decided just to do a character assasination.
It was a low blow. Anarchists and leftist and America haters find solace at De Paul.
The Chicago Police gave the Protesters an escort. When I asked a Chicago Officer why they gave the protesters an escort he said he was protecting their 1st amendment rights.

Having the Minutemen President speak at DePaul yesterday was a true disgrace. You use fear and lies to get people to support the organization. The DePaul professor did a great job in showing the true side of your ignorant president. The hatred and racism this group promotes is unbelievable.

It seems like you are the one engaging in fear and lies. Why are you and the professor unable to discuss the substance of the issue and have to resort to ad hominem?
I'm more pro (illegal) immigrant than the Minutemen. But that does not make ad hominem remarks true of either them or me. It just means we disagree on an issue.
On the issue, The government's immigration policy should have a focus:
- Terrorists
- Murderers, rapists, DUI drivers
- Welfare parasites, truly undesireables.
That means give a pass to those who work hard and are an asset to society.
rw,
From a purely tactical perspective, if the Minutemen, and Oberweiss, and supporters of HR4437 had focused the debate on Democrats soft on immigrant terrorists, child molestors and welfare parasites they would do better in the elections and have broader support. But the focus on hardworking people makes us look like hypocrites as we are supposed to be for people who are not lazy and who work.

Do not know who 'spintreebb' is but he / she does not appear to spend much time conversing with members of the pro-sovreignty movement. By spending a little time on the web site minutemenmidwest.com you should quickly observe that our efforts are concentrated on the problem with OUR government and the mainstream media. The people who break laws to come or stay here are the symptom of the problem. The problem is our government who refuses to enforce our laws. There are three things that need to occur quickly: 1. eliminate executive order 13166;
2. militarize our borders and re-assign relieved Border Patrol Agents to ICE and USCIS;
3. eliminate the current interpretation of the 14th amendment (anchor babies).
How can we win the war on drugs when our borders are undefended? Why bother deporting people? One person has been documented as being deported 127 times.

To those who attempted to attack Mr. Chris Simcox personally. I personally met and heard Mr. Simcox clear back in 2005. I found him to be the most honest, kind, and intellectually interesting man I had come across in quite awhile.
The critics should really know who they are criticizing. It is almost laughable! While they claim he's some sort of bigot and xenophobe, are you aware that while being a white man, he married a minority? Do you know that in his prior life he actually taught classes in diversity? I didn't think so...
Of all the people who are the most tolerant, kind, and charitable -- Mr. Simcox has GOT to stand four square among them. How many of his critics can be counted among that fold??? Hmmm...
Illegal immigration must be stopped. It is the "slavery of the 21st Century" that we thought we got rid of almost 150 years ago. It is the MOST sensitive and tolerant stand to say: "Stop the rape trees on the border of smugglers raping illegal women crossing our borders and placing them into the sex trade! Stop the hazardous work conditions where employers depend on illegals not reporting things to OSHA! And stop the descrimination and abandonment of AMERICAN minorities and low income citizens to people who have NO BUSINESS in our country!"
America for LEGAL Americans who are here legally -- now and forever...
