GOPUSA Illinois Daily Clips for May 23, 2008 includes news and commentaries on the following topics:

  • Republican Party candidates, campaigns, and events
  • Republican Party platform issues including promoting a strong national defense, respect for the rule of law, individual responsibilitiy, traditional values, etc.
  • Illinois budget problems and more...
DAILY HERALD
-- GOP Senators Brady, and Lauzen, and Pankau storm out of budget committee - John Patterson
(FROM THE ARTICLE: The Republicans left after the acting committee chairman – Elgin Democrat Michael Noland – cut off their line of questioning regarding ethics. "You're not going to respect one of us. You've disrespect all of us, just because you don't like the question that's being asked. When we don't say what you want us to say then you shut us down. I think it's dead wrong," said state Sen. Chris Lauzen, an Aurora Republican. State Sen. Bill Brady, a Bloomington Republican and expected GOP candidate for governor in 2010, led the exodus. The other Republicans -- including Roselle's Carole Pankau -- followed soon after. A Senate vote on the borrowing scheme is expected Friday. It’ll take 36 votes for approval in the 59-member Senate. Democrats have enough votes if every member supports it. The last time the Democrats did this, they needed Republican help and found a few GOP members willing to back the governor’s pension borrowing plan, including Hinsdale Republican Kirk Dillard.)
-- 10th Congressional District: Seals' political gas giveaway works  $1.85 gas jams traffic, raises questions - Mark Zawistak
-- DIERSEN HEADLINE: OUTSTANDING: The Daily Herald promotes Wheaton's Memorial Day parade which will have about 45 units and pass along or through Dr. Bob Krzyzewski's precinct 1, Dave Diersen's precinct 9, Ron Creswell's precinct 20, Craig Ellinghausen's precinct 65, Scot Krause's precinct 80, and Jeanne Ive's precinct 86. The parade starts at Memorial Park at 10:00 AM and end at Wheaton Cemetery at about 11:00 AM where a ceremony will be held.  Needless-to-say, everyone is invited to watch the parade and ceremony.   Hopefully, the Daily Herald will similarly promote Wheaton's Independence Day parade.
-- DIERSEN HEADLINE: BEYOND OUTRAGEOUS: Cook County Clerk David Orr promotes voter fraud and class warfare.  In America, there is absolutely no justification for refusing to have a photo ID.

NBC5
-- DIERSEN HEADLINE: Outrageously, for many decades, especially in Illinois, RINOs have worked with Democrats to galvanize voters against conservatism.  Outrageously, the Democrat Party controlled NBC5 again uses quotes from Dillard to promote Democrat Obama.  Outrageously, because of Obama's outrageous anti-conservative record, the only thing that Obama has shown that he can "galvanize the American public" to work against, is to work against conservatism.  Why haven't Illinois Republican Party leaders blasted Dillard for his promotion of anti-conservative Democrat Obama?
(FROM THE ARTICLE: Those Close To Obama Say He's Ready  Carol Marin Reaches Out To Friends Of Presidential Hopeful . . . Republican Sen. Kirk Dillard met the Chicago Democrat in Springfield. "I gravitated to him because we were both lawyers, with professional wives with two young daughters," Dillard said. . . . "Sen. Obama has the ability to galvanize the American public," Dillard said of Obama.)
