Rep. Arroyo owes Pulido and Jones an apology
Disrespect for citizens who take a day off work to go to the Illinois Capitol and express their concerns about pending legislation is not uncommon. It should be.
Listen to Exhibit A -- Download HB2747committeehearing.wmv -- and the time of question and answer between State Rep. Luis Arroyo, House Executive Committee Chairman Daniel Burke and concerned citizens Rosanna Pulido (right) and Rick Jones, volunteer representative of the Chicago Minutemen Project.
The first thing, Rep. Arroyo accuses the Minutemen of "stopping illegal people at the border and shoot[ing] them" then and goes on to demean Ms. Pulido, insinuating she is a traitor to her Mexican heritage for questioning HB 2747. In its original language, HB 2747 would have expanded the amount of time illegal detainees would have with spiritual counsel (pastors and/or lay people) from two hours a month to an unlimited number of visits.
Ms. Pulido and Mr. Jones expressed the unfairness of such provisions for illegal aliens who had committed a felony and were awaiting deportation. Their concerns are valid, so much so that adjustments have been made to the bill since this hearing. HB 2747 passed committee that day with an 8 to 3 vote. Those opposing the bill in committee were Rep. Bob Biggins, Rep. Dan Brady and Rep. Jim Meyers, all Republicans.
The Illinois House is not an "insiders only" secret society. It is a place where the concerns of citizens should be heard with open minds. The arrogance of unchallenged Democratic House members like those who ridiculed these concerned citizens two weeks ago is unacceptable and should be reprimanded by the House leadership.
Our lawmakers are sent to Springfield by the people to make decisions on our behalfs. They are bestowed those honorable positions as public servants. They are not manor lords nor royalty, despite the Democrats' belief they own Illinois.
Rep. Arroyo owes Mrs. Pulido and Mr. Jones an apology, as does the acting committee chairman Rep. Art Turner, who didn't shut down the exchange earlier.
Call them in Springfield and tell them -- 217.782.2000.

Chicago/Illinois politicians, eh?
Wait... they will be convicted and put behind bars.

Rosanna isn't a traitor. All U.S. citizens who help illegal aliens are traitors.

It is amazing to me how the left keeps calling us names when we find a new strategy. We are traitors now, or biggots or homophobes. They insist on name calling while we are defending our homes, our jobs and our families from Illegal Alien Criminals. If anything Rick and Rosanna are our heros.

Why does this surprise anyone? All of the Pro Illegal supporters think this is a joke and the politicians are the worst, listen to him laughing all through the audio clip. He thinks his job is secure and doesn't worry about what illegal immigration is doing to the average American citizen. This man should be voted out of office or recalled. It's obvious where his loyalties lay and it isn't with America.
Rosanna and the rest of you that are working so hard to help protect America, we owe you a great debt. And please know that the number of us joining you in this fight are growing daily. Thank you!!!!!

Maybe Ms. Pulido owes all Christian churches an apology. I listened three times to make sure she said what I thought she did, and here's what Pulido said: "If the church succeeds in its mission, they will destroy the United States of America."
Ummm...so who's the extremist in this picture???
