Miller Uni-Bombs Rauschenberger
Rich Miller - the Ted Kaczynski of the Illinois blogging world - seems to have gotten his feathers ruffled by none other than former State Senator Steve Rauschenberger. Miller opined today on recent statements Rauschenberger made to the Wall Street Journal about his time with Barack Obama in the Illinois Senate.
Writing from a secret location on his pay-me-to-read-me blog, Miller rabidly took after Rauschenberger as left-wing madmen are prone to do when their hero kings are shown to have no cloths. So intimidated was Miller that he even went so far as to read Rauschenberger's mind; and ascribe certain "emotions" to Rauschy's factual/historical recitation.
What a journalistic paragon Miller has become.
You can read Rich's screed here - that is if by reading it you aren't violating any of Miller's many copyrights and/or have paid him his $350/yr. subscription. Rich's poodle Rob Nesvacil (aka NW Burbs) also commented on his own, "Miller Lite", blog here.

Rich Miller, What a joke! The problem with Rich is he is the only one who himself seriously. Obama has done nothing in his political career but shown himself to be a political hack. I know we are not suppose to criticize the messiah, but the truth must be told. Barack and the Chicago gang get to Washington DC, then God help us all. Do not try to make Obama something he is not. He is not a reformer or unitier or even a moderate.
He is a political hack from Chicago backed by Daley, Stroger, Blago and Jesse Jackson.

Also, it's Unabomber, with an "a." It's derived from university and airline bomber.
If you're gonna slam somebody, try to get it right. Otherwise, you look like a moron.
Just sayin'.

I agree with Vince on the Obama sentiment, he is a ward-heeling Chicago machine politician who is of little substance. Further, he is only a uniter if you choose to unite with him in his far left politics. That said, Miller is entitled to his opinion wrong as it may be. If he chooses to charge for his blog it is up to him and those who wish to subscribe. I personally wouldn't, there is plenty of political news out there for free. Attacking him for his opinion is the same as him attacking this blog. It is what the bloodsport of politics is all about. Any attention that you give him, does nothing more than lend undue credence to his position as well as feed his ego. A sizable ego judging by his commentary above.

Hey Rich:
Re: Unibomber or Unabomber – check your facts (as you arrogantly tell people).
Unibomber was used by the media (See: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Theodore_Kaczynski.
And it was purposefully used with a hyphen in the title of this post. I won’t bother to explain "why" to you. Perhaps you can ask the poodle.
Guess who looks like a moron now?
Just sayin'.

It appears that the rumors of Mr. Miller's notorious thin skin are true.

I liked how Miller denied that Obama's endorsement of Stroger proved Obama not to be a reformer because he didn't endorse Stroger over Claypool in the primary. Well, it's true that he didn't.
But, what Miller conveniently fails to point out is that Sen. Wishywashy "Reformer" refused to endorse Claypool over Stroger, very begrudgingly mentioned the day prior to the election that he was voting for Claypool (lot of good that did Claypool), and then not only endorsed Stroger over Peraica in the general, but went so far as to allow a letter of endorsement by him to be mailed out to voters by Stroger's campaign.
If Obama were caught smoking crack in a crackhouse, Miller would probably rush to his defense by hypothosizing that His Saintliness must have been chloroformed by Dick Cheney, planted in the crackhouse and a crack pipe put in his mouth while he was unconscious, then slapped into consciousness by unknown government agents just before the police arrived.
Miller's free blog is nothing but a tribute to The Messiah ... I wonder what the suckers who are paying for the "privilege" are being subjected to in the paid portion of his site.

Two things.
First, you are giving Obama flack for endorsing a Democrat in a general election? Isn't that what you are supposed to do in general elections? Heck he also did the same for Bill Foster so obviously Sen. Obama is pure evil.
Secondly, talking about the Obama coverage in the Capitolfax blog is a bit like saying you read Playboy for the Jazz column. I read it for a bunch of reasons including the most obvious. The is the blog of record of the downfall of Rod.

Scott is dead on correct. I read Capital Fax -- the free portion, can't afford the subscription rate.
It is an entirely different Blog that this one, being more a compendium of open source newspapers and periodicals and therefore the source of a lot of coverage which is not carried in Fran's Excellent Adventure.
It is worthwhile reading what the various publications are saying.
I have made many commnts in Rich's publication, some entertaining and some thoughtful, all using the non de plume above, all from a conservative POV. I have never been censored or have my remarks been cut.
Like most journalists he is enamored of Senator Obama, but he does not force that POV on his reader.
Tegarding Senator Rauschy, he is a good man, but Rich does point out inconsistencies. He admits to have liked Sen. R when he was an Illinois Senator for his honesty but claims that his interviews regarding Obama do not meet the prior standards.
I say that, but must add that I believe Sen. Obama to be a hollow man, who has managed until he got involved with the hard ball Clinonista to make him seem to be a mirror of each of his supporters, no matter how different they might be.
Obama is mining a fear that exists in the electorate reagrding the economy and a huge distrust of what the current President has wrought. Whether the mirrors will prove fragile and the smoke of fear will hold in branding McCain with the Bush administration programs remains to be seen.
In the meantime, I would sugest that reading Capital Fax will provide a summary of current press coverage on a variety of issues -- plus a lohg set of individual comments on every subject, with opinions varying from Green party, to Blafo apologists, to Democrat Blago haters and across the aisle to moderate Republicans and conservatives like myself.

When I was on staff, one of the downstate GOP Senators described Rich Miller's antipathy toward Rauschie thusly:
"Rich decided that the Capitol was only big enough for one guy with a beard who new everything about state government and that guy was going to be him."

Truthful,
I'm not sure what exactly you mean about IR, but we are proud of the array of contributors who offer their time, energy and talent to share insights and news that may be interesting to conservatives.
We have a different focus and different purpose than Miller. However, as conservatives, now and then it seems incumbent upon us to give the other side of the story, answer CapitolFax's pro-Democrat, one-sided smack talk, and cover issues that need another perspective.
Rich has no competition in Springfield and hasn't had any for years. He doesn't need our help to keep doing what he's doing.
The more we know about what's happening in Springfield and throughout the state from sources other than Democrat operatives, the better off our state will be -- and sooner, better than later.
We appreciate the joint effort of all those who participate in Illinois Review. I just happen to be the one who tries to keep something going when all our other writers are too busy to post -- living their lives, building their businesses and taking care of their families. It's what makes their perspectives so valuable and insightful.
Thanks . . .

One,
YES, I AM giving Obama flak for endorsing the Democrat, Todd Stroger, in the general election. Why, you might ask? Well, consider Sen. High and Mighty's own claims that:
1. He is against partisan politics and letting politics get in the way of "change;"
2. He wants to bring "Democrats and Republicans together" (as he allegedly did in Illinois ... I must've slept while he singlehandedly did that) to effect "change";
3. Politics and government as usual must end;
4. And on, and on ...
So, you see, Obama has by his own big, lying mouth placed himself above the boundaries of party politics. If what he says were truthful, he would have endorsed Peraica. Certainly, he did not have to specifically endorse Todd Stroger, nor go so far as to help him with a targeted mailing a week before the election.
Obama likes to have it both ways, and people such as you and Miller empower him to do just that, with no repercussions whatsoever. Like lambs to the slaughter ...

Rich Miller knows more about Illinois politics than anyone on this site, I wish I was as informed as he is. Why do we need to make fun of someone just because of differing opinions.
Anonarama, show me a politician who doesn't want to have it both ways and I'll show you a liar.

Looks like Miller's called in his lackeys to defend him.
How dare we not all bow at the Richster's feet?

Michelle,
Congratulations you figured it out. You have put bright sunshine on our huge secret defend Rich Miller program. We have all commented here from time to time on other topics just so when someone said something ill of Rich we could have a meeting in a 'secret location' and figure out how to defend Rich.
Because one post here could mean the complete downfall of the huge CapitolFax empire.
Anonamama:
You make a good point, I guess my response would be that in my experience as a committeeman I have put up a few yard signs for candidates in my front yard over the years that I have not been thrilled with, but as a committeeman I felt I have had a duty to do so.
As for him trying to have it both ways, total correct and unfortunately that trait is not unique to Sen. Obama, Democrats or even liberals.

Cute, One Man . . .
Mr. Miller is the one who started this little tirade and whether it sets well or not, its about time someone step up to his bullying. Who hasn't seen the fear in Springfield insiders eyes when they learn Miller is after them.
I hope when the lawmakers work on the internet bullying bill they remember the likes of Mr. Miller.

Rich Miller has been manipulating the GOP for years and years.
Shame on the Repubs who slip him secrets and rumors.
Sen. Rauschenberge was always friendly with him and look what he got for it?
Rich easily manipulating Adeline Geo-Karis to help Terry Link pick up another seat.
The part that really damages the GOP is that the wishy-washy lobbyists actually read and believe much of Rich says. When they make their decisions based on things he reports as news is when Rich does the most damage to us.
We need an alternative that will actively be distributed to lobbyists. They write the checks after all.

Fran --
You should be proud of your contributors -- except those who censor replies (not you, you are 100% open) with which they disagree.
You run this Blog like a Commentary Magazine. Caital Fax is more or less a compendium of news articles, most of which are left to stand on their own, drawn tgetehr around a single topic. Then, the individual readers comment on any or each of the articles or on the the remarks of other commentators.
You know me to be a Conservative. My comments are published in each without emendation and sometimes with response from others. The exception being the author in this Blog who cannot take criticism and overcontrol the responses.
I consider that each -- CF and IR is worthy of my reading daily. I don't think that his newspaper references qaulify as democratic operatives, although some of the comments clearly come from Blago or Madigsn, or even Emil camps.
And yes, Rich does sometimes go from editor to commentator, juxtaposing each in a way designed to get a POV across.
But yes, I admire you for keeping your Blog open and turning stuff out 24/7, while Rich rests on the weekend.
That's all.
