The World's Underpopulation
by David E. Smith, Illinois Family Institute
Contrary to the mantra of radical environmentalists, we are facing a crisis of underpopulation rather than overpopulation.
Worldwide birth rates have declined by 50 percent in the past 50 years, and there are now 59 nations, containing 44 percent of the world's population, which have below replacement birthrates. The European Union has a birthrate of just 1.3 children per woman (the replacement rate is 2.1), meaning Europe will have a shortfall of 20 million workers by 2030.
Russia's population has been decimated by abortion, which is routinely used there as a method of birth control, and will lose one-third of its current population by 2050.
The birth rate in France and Germany is around 1.4.
Italy, where they are now paying couples to have babies, has fallen to 0.9 -- the lowest in the world. It is why many of these Western European countries have opened their doors to Muslim immigrants.
The Muslims in France and Germany have a saying -- “Germany is ours, they just don’t know it. France is ours, they just don’t know it.” While France and
Germany has a birth rate of 1.4, Muslims who migrate to those countries have a birth rate of 6. Which means that within two generations, France and Germany will be Muslim countries by birth rate alone.
Ironic isn’t it? Children were once considered a source of wealth. But here we are in the wealthiest nation in the world -- and the dominate philosophy tells us that says children are too expensive.
Christians shouldn’t buy the lie of the world that says children aren’t a blessing. Moreover, we need to have a multi-generation view of the world.
