Sauerberg Announces $1M Personal Loan to campaign
From the Sauerberg campaign --
(Lombard, IL) - Today, U.S. Senate nominee Steve Sauerberg, M.D., announced he had made a $1,000,000 personal loan to his campaign. "I am making this loan to my campaign because I am committed to returning Illinois values to Washington in November by defeating Dick Durbin," said Sauerberg. "This loan is a down-payment on my commitment to voters to break the power of the special interests in Washington and to restore their faith in our legislative and political process."
Dr. Sauerberg is a family physician from LaGrange, Illinois, who has built a successful family medical practice over the last 25 years. "I have worked hard to build a small business and have been blessed to have been fortunate enough to be successful," continued Sauerberg. "Now I want to give back to the people of Illinois. I am not going to Washington to line my pockets or the pockets of my friends and family - I am going to Washington to represent the people of Illinois and fight for their interests."
"Washington is broken, and no one better exemplifies the broken, special interest corrupted, hyper-partisan system more than Dick Durbin," said Sauerberg. "After 37 years on the government payroll, Durbin's shameful record speaks for itself."
"Dick Durbin has had decades to improve healthcare, to solve the immigration crisis, to strengthen our economy, to end our dependence on foreign oil, to eliminate wasteful spending, and to break the power of the special interests," continued Sauerberg. "The results of Durbin's efforts? More than 40 million uninsured, a healthcare system on the verge of implosion, an immigration crisis spiraling out of control, an economy on the brink of disaster, gas prices soaring, billions wasted on pork-barrel projects and a special-interest driven government in Washington. By any objective standard, Dick Durbin's career representing the people of Illinois has been an unmitigated disaster."
"Dick Durbin is the problem and my campaign is part of the solution," concluded Sauerberg. "I look forward to spending the next seven months working day and night working to deliver real change to Washington."

Good for you Steve. It's refreshing to hear a first time candidate put his money where his mouth is.
Best of luck to you and your campaign.
Dick the turbin Durbin is part of the problem. He comes back to Illinois in the eleventh hour and rings his hands about the Canadian National RR deal with the EJ&E RR.
I believe he knew a long time ago what was going down and kept his greedy liver lipped mouth shut.
He is a fraud and needs to be exposed to the taxpayers of our state.
Give him hell,

Now if he only were able to put in another $9 million, he would have a real chance.
Glad to hear that someone is willing to take on Durbin, he's vulnerable. His positive/negative ratio is within the margin of error.
Just don't spend all of your money on consultants...
Good luck.

Got to hand it to Sauerburg.
I haven't seen any polls for this race, but you have to imagine that Sauerburg would be way behind Turbin Durbin. For him to drop this amount of cash into the campaign, it has to mean that he intends to make this a fight. Got to love a fighter!!
Go for it Steve!! Hope everyone gives him some support. We need to rid the Country of Durbin.

Headline,
Steve Sauerberg loans his campaign a million then he hires the log cabin Pubs to run his campaign. What a waste of money!!

Do you think he's paying his consultants a million dollars?
Have any of you tried to help him?
Gosh, wouldn't it be refreshing if someone who had the guts to put down his own money to challenge durbin (when no one else would)might be able to at least expect some fair treatment in a venue like this?
Bernie Shoenberg has really manipulated you well.

Dear Realist:
Sauerberg publicized the background of his new staffers in a campaign press release. The campaign made this a story, not Bernie Schoenberg.

Now that Sauerberg has made this kind of committment to his campaign on behalf of the party, the next question is: Are we willing to commit ourselves to the Sauerberg candidacy?
He has my support. Period.

Louis,
Mine as well. Fran and Marriage Defender, he's your nominee. Hate him or love him, train your fire on Durbin for once.
Alan, Matt and Realist,
I took a look this morning and you can contribute right on his site (www.sauerberg2008.com) - I think it'd be awesome if Illinoisans and others could raise another million for Steve in the next month. So ANYONE who can pony up, even like $20, please let's help him out. And yeah I think he is vulnerable. if any of you are bloggers, I think the campaign needs more help in its internet outreach - thoughts?
