A little-reported fact about the highly touted HPV vaccine, Gardasil, is the number of adverse effects associated with it. The vaccine has been targeted at young girls to provide an antidote to the virus if they become sexually active as teenagers.
The U.S. government reports that seven deaths have now been associated with the vaccine, including girls who died at 11, 12, 15 and 19. The database lists a total of 3,137 reported adverse effects, 44 of which were considered "life-threatening" and 94 of which required hospitalization. The database is voluntary, and thus likely underreports the total number of adverse effects.
