Ten Rules for Illinois Conservatives
The Vatican has come up with Ten Commandments for drivers.
They are:
- You shall not kill.
- The road shall be for you a means of communion between people and not of mortal harm.
- Courtesy, uprightness and prudence will help you deal with unforeseen events.
- Be charitable and help your neighbor in need, especially victims of accidents.
- Cars shall not be for you an expression of power and domination, and an occasion of sin.
- Charitably convince the young and not so young not to drive when they are not in a fitting condition to do so.
- Support the families of accident victims.
- Bring guilty motorists and their victims together, at the appropriate time, so that they can undergo the liberating experience of forgiveness.
- On the road, protect the more vulnerable party.
- Feel responsible toward others.
Which got us to thinking . . . Illinois Review (crossroads for the conservative community) could help the cause by developing a set of "Ten Commandments for Illinois Conservatives," similar to the Vatican's new behavior guidelines.
How about something patterned after the Vatican's #5: "Being funded by a foolhardy or vindictive millionaire should not be for you an expression of power and domination and an occasion of sin"?
What d'ya think?

Lets start with:
1. Thou shalt not bear false witness, even if thou art repeating a falsehood told by others.
2. If thou hast not good to say about a brother, let silence utter from thy lips.
3. Thou shalt not believe what thou hearest unless thou art a first hand witness.
4. Trust what thou hearest from others, but verify.
5. When thou hast verified that thou hast aught against a brother, go to that brother privily; if that workest not, approach the brother with two or three witnesses; if that workest not, take it to thy political organization; if he repent not, let him be to thee as a heathen and a heretic.
6. Thou shalt not glee in broadcasting thy brother's dirty laundry over the internet before others.

Positive and inspiring, Vance.
7. Thou shalt not ignore all of what history has taught you, in favor of some proposal that "sounds nice".

How about an answer to IC's current MO of "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you (unless they have a different perspective, then righteous indignation is justified, permitting public humiliation via internet or word-of-mouth)?

Thou shalt speak the truth about every elected official and their liberal voting records hold their feet to the fire about their voting record and what they say and do.
Thou shalt get rid of the State Party Chairman if he or she does not do their job.

I like these commandments.
1. Thou shalt not have any RINOs in my party.
2. Thou shalt adhere to the GOP Platform as written or leave and run as a Democrat.

Thou shalt not steal the taxpayer's money, even when it is called pinstripe welfare.
Thou shalt not commit suicide ... political suicide. Thou shalt not be a suicide bomber who takes innocent conservative political lives also during a political suicide.

How about 1: Love God. And 2: Love thy Neighbor.
I think that covers it.
