Judy Rudy

by Jill Stanek

Where have we heard this before?

From an interview with Rudy Giuliani on Fox News Sunday, May 13:

I know what my positions are. A very, very big portion of my party agrees with that. A certain portion of my party disagrees with that.

My attempt is to try to broaden the base of the Republican Party, to try to bring in people that can agree and that can disagree on that, because I think the issues that we face about terrorism, about our economy, about the growth of our economy are so important that we have to have the biggest outreach possible.

BTW, the "certain portion" of the GOP disagreeing with Rudy's abortion position is actually the majority.  From the New York Times, May 10:

In a New York Times/CBS News poll in March, 41 percent of Republicans thought abortions should be prohibited, compared with 23 percent of Americans in general; in addition, 53 percent of Republicans said they wanted a Republican presidential nominee who would make abortions more difficult to get.
