Sweet and Sour Fetus: Chinese cannibalism

by Jill Stanek

The following, if true, is what abortion and the dehumanization of preborn babies has wrought. It is the most despicable outcome of abortion I have ever seen or reported.

Yet, if one is "pro-choice" and denies that preborn humans are human, there is nothing wrong with this whatsoever. It can't even be considered cannibalism.

Reported The Epoch Times on March 29:

The Next Magazine, a weekly publication from Hong Kong, reported that infant corpses and fetuses have become the newest supplements for health and beauty in China. Not only is the placenta considered a beauty remedy, but also aborted fetuses are much sought after delicacies. In Guangdong, gourmet body parts are in high demand and can even be purchased through hospitals....

The reporter observed a woman chopping up a male fetus and making soup from the placenta. During the process, the woman even tried to comfort everyone by saying, "Don't be afraid, this is just the flesh of a higher animal."...

In fact, in China, reports about meals made from infant flesh have surfaced from time to time. A video is on the Internet for people to view. In the introduction, the Chinese claim that eating a human fetus is an art form....

Sorry Jill, couldn't resist. How well vetted is this story.

Bruno, according to Wikipedia, The Epoch Times is an anti-Chinese-government newspaper. Wikipedia compares The Next Magazine, from whence Epoch got its information, to a sensationalist type paper.

That said, Wikipedia is accessible by all to skew, including the Chinese government. And there are good sensationalist news organizations, like Drudge (and even the Enquirer these days), and bad sensationalist rags that boast alien abductions on their front page.

But I've read legitimate news stories of the Chinese doing strange things with embryos. So I think this stuff is happening. And that last photo in particular looks real.

This was debunked via snopes quite some time ago.

"Quite some time ago" would mean before this news came out, meaning the Snopes article referred to something completely different. Unless you've got another one, that Snopes piece was written in 2001, and its last update was 2-07.

LOL. Ok Jill. The commie Chinese eat dead babies.

The fact that you believe this is kind of sad. It's a long standing urban legend. It's been around since the AOL days for **** sake. Unless of course, chain emails have recently become true.

Jill - I've got to tell you that I have real concerns about this article. There doesn't appear to be multiple independent sources for this story and as you know videos can be faked. The charge of cannibalism is one as you recall that was leveled against early Christians too.

David, Jill is trying the "fact free" method of blogging. It's part of her new diet.

Someone needs a reality check...

Don't worry. Chinese people don't eat babies. This "film" and all the shots you see are a hoax. We wrote about the baby-eating myth and how many mainland Chinese people believe it at our site:
http://peer-see.com/blog/korean-fan-death-and-baby-soup/2006/08/11/
There is also some great background on blood libel at:
http://www.jesus21.com/poppydixon/sex/chinese_eating_fetuses.html

Eating human fetus is a part of Chinese and Korean culture for many centuries, like eating dogs, but it's becoming less common.

But the way Koreans murder dogs is much worse than eating fetus. They beat them with hammers to death because of superstitions about getting "virility" from tortured meat. Chinese eat dogs and cats too, but they don't torture them as bad first...mainly simple electrocution(unless it's Raccon Dog, which is skinned alive).

This is also the reason for many diseases there. Human stomachs should not injest the flesh of carnivores like dogs or cats(or other humans). It is against the food chain and nature.

It's no secret that some Chinese people, especially rural areas, eat dogs, cats, baby fetuses and some cases babies. Any Chinese lives in the mainland knows this although they might tell you otherwise.

Well, before you fly off the handle, it's a cultural thing for them so let's try to understand.

Dear all,

I'm chinese, my family always have fetuses for drink, but they were deer fetuses.

The fetus drowned with whiskey, most of Johny Walker and we wait about at least 3 month for the potion ready for drink.

man this is sick! why the hel do people fuk and make babies then eat them? i think they should shot!

man this is sick! why the hel do people fuk and make babies then eat them? i think they should shot!

This isn't real, you're all idiots.

Okay, so I see you found out about our secret baby-eating habits. However, we actually do thorough genetic testing beforehand, and then we eat the dumb babies and send out all the rest of our progeny to drive all your children out of higher education through our superior academic skills. The idea is that eventually, we'll have a majority of the advanced degrees and successful businesses in America so we can start exporting *your* babies to China, and then all of us will be able to enjoy the delicacy that is human baby fetus. Mmmmm.

Old urban myths are often recycled by news outlets, so it's perfectly plausible that snopes debunked this a while back and then it was published again later.

But come on - this is so nuts that only a complete fool would believe it, snopes or not.

This story might have originated from the famines of the 1950s and 60s, when cannabilism may have happened, but cannabilism happens in many starvation situations, and it stops when the starvation stops.

To everyone posting sarcastic answers: careful, these people are so gullible they will believe the sarcastic answers too! I have seen it happen. It's hilarious, yet sad.

I'm sorry but I need to set the facts straight. Someone said Koreans along with Chinese eat fetuses and that is a broad statement. Koreans do not eat fetuses. Due to a tyrannical north Korean leader and famine desperation some north Koreans have turned to unfortunate means however it is still taboo in the Korean culture as a whole and not the norm. Turning to cannibalism due to famine crisis is far different than cannibalism as a beauty and health supplement that the Chinese do. So don't generalize and equate the two different cultures, not to mention south Korea does not practice any form of cannibalism. As for dogs, although there are a few of the poor that do practice that act, it is frowned upon and not widely accepted in the Korean culture as a whole. So please, unless u have concrete evidence and have taken a population survey on these practices in that country, don't stereotype and make generalized comments. As for china's practices, this is a group of people in a particular area that think this is an actual tonic. Gross it is. I personally believe communism is the real culprit for such heinous acts.

lol the chinese DO NOT EAT BABIES you bunch of idiots. Fetuses of DEER are a delicacy but it is not very common. Have you people ever left Illinois? get some first hand knowledge (or at least, legitimate sources!) to back up your racist claims.

Whenever I'm in China, I always start the day with a big bowl of Fetus Flakes, Cream of Fetus, or my personal fave, Chocolate Fetus Puffs.

With tiramisu, you get real lady fingers!
