The League of Conservation Voters have already made their mind up about President Bush's speech. Anything he says about energy, they will be ready to attack.
This powerful environmental group has repeatedly been in opposition to drilling for oil in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge (ANWR). They do not appear concerned about our foreign dependence on oil or the needs of our military.
They do not seem to understand we cannot switch to alternative energy or renewable fuels over night and until this change is made, we still need oil.
They said, "President Bush's Energy Act has no meaningful increase in fuel efficiency standards, spends a pittance on renewable energy, and provides billions in tax-breaks for an oil industry awash in record profits - all this as Americans face increasing energy costs and a great dependence on fossil fuels."
LCV said "But if history is any judge on this Administration, don't hold your breath on real action - you'll only be buying in to the spin." "We are anxious to hear what the spin machine came up with time."
Tomorrow they will definitely come up with "their" spin on what the President said about the environment and energy. Actually, they have not waited until tomorrow, they have already decided and it has cost the American people untold added dollars to heat their homes and fuel their cars.
